PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG \/ WECP) – Bay County Sheriff’s MPs are warning people to be careful who you let work on your lawn. The people knocking on your front door could be a scam.<\/p>\n

Landscapers go to Bay County neighborhoods and knock on doors to drop pine straw for an agreed price, according to MPs. But after the job is done, the men get aggressive and ask for a price double or even three times the original amount.<\/p>\n

Bay County Sheriff’s MPs say these scammers target people they believe are prone to bullying.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you agree on a price, you are not required to pay a penny more. And if they don’t like it, tell them to get their pine straw and go, \u201dsaid Lt. Jeremy Mathis.<\/p>\n

Bay County has an anti-advertising ordinance. That means you need to have permission to go door to door selling things.<\/p>\n

Lt. Mathis wants to remind you, when you see something suspicious, say something!<\/p>\n
