LIONEL Messi may have to knock down part of his new seaside villa in Ibiza.

The Argentinian football legend is also likely to be hit with a large fine for undertaking illegal works at his €11million mansion, near Cala Tarida.

The former Barca star, now with PSG in Paris, bought the home in February this year, without an official opening license (licencia de primera ocupación).

The property he bought from Swiss businessman Philippe Amon has too many rooms.

In particular, the garage block of the home has two unlicensed bedrooms and will ‘probably have to be demolished’ a spokesman at local San Jose town hall told the Olive Press.

“The villa has a problem with its license and to become a legal property he needs to turn those bedrooms into a garage,” he said today.

In addition, the Olive Press can reveal that Messi was also landed with a ‘stop order’ from nearby San Jose council in May for undertaking further works.

“We had to step in when we discovered they were doing some other land movement in the grounds without a proper license,” added the spokesman.

“They were carving out terraces to plant trees and so we had to stop the work.”

The issue is unlikely to be a big problem for the Argentinian star, who owns various other homes in Spain.

These include a hotel on the island, the MIM Ibiza Es Vive, a stunning four-storey spot near Ibiza Town, which features some of his medals and prizes.

Messi, 35, has been a regular visitor to Ibiza for years and spent much of August in his new villa, where he has reportedly splashed up to €5million in renovations.

He was also recently spotted on a yacht off Ibiza with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo.

Last year, he rented the amazing private island of Tagomago, off Cala San Vicente, which costs €250,000 a week.

The island, owned by Mallorca-based German estate agent Matthias Kuhn, is on sale for €157million.

Among those who have stayed on Tagomago in recent years are Cristiano Ronaldo and the Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood. Footballer Gareth Bale proposed to his wife on the island in 2016.

HYDERABAD: Residents of Brahmanwadi, Allam Thota Bavi and Prakash Nagar, areas that are prone to inundations during heavy rains every year, will soon get respite, according to Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

The Minister informed on Friday that the State government has decided to take up the construction of retaining walls on both sides of the Begumpet nalas, lay stormwater pipelines and CC roads in these colonies to provide a permanent solution.

Talasani held a review meeting with MAUD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, HMWS&SB MD M Dana Kishore, Hyderabad Collector Sharman, Endowment Commissioner Anil Kumar, GHMC Engineer-in-Chief Mohd Ziauddin, revenue and other officials on Friday on various issues.

He said that every year, rainwater from the Begumpet nala leads to flooding of Brahmanwadi, Allam Thota Bavi, Prakash Nagar causing untold hardships to the people living in these localities. For a permanent solution to this problem, the government will take up the projects under SNDP. He asked officials of all departments concerned to work in tandem and prepare proposals for taking up the works on priority.

Talasani said that the Monda Market old Jail Khana in Secunderabad, which has a long history, should be developed on the lines Moazzam Jahi Market. Also, the government plans to build double bedroom houses for the 130 families that are living on the 3,571 sq. yd land belonging to Somappa Math in Bholakpur in Musheerabad zone for decades. Of these 130 families, 53 were given pattas in 1996.

Minister also said that about 134 households in the Ramgopalpet division have applied for regularization under GO 816 in 1994 and the government could not proceed with the regularization process due to cases pending in the Supreme Court.

Although the court ruling in 2002 ruled in favor of the beneficiaries, applications were still pending. At a recent meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee chaired by Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao, it was agreed to sort out the issue, Talasani revealed.

Greenacres Man advocates that Village stop building tall retaining walls on Kingston Road

Real Estate Published: Wednesday 06 January 2021 4:22 PM Joanne Wallenstein

An aerial view of the proposed project. What do you do when you discover that a developer is planning to put two rows of 30m retaining walls on the hill in your back yard?

A. Contact the village technical department for help.
B. Appointment to the Board of Architectural Review.
C. Start a petition to get help from neighbors.
D. Legal counsel, engineer, town planner and architect.

Brite Avenue resident and realtor Mark Nadler has taken all of these steps and still has no answer as to why the village would allow a contractor to build an 8,000-square-foot home on a steep hill and use the back yard to do so Retaining walls to extend protrude over the backyard of the needler.

The developer doesn’t even have to submit a representation of what the property and walls would look like from the base of the hill where Nadler’s house is located.

The property in question is located at 4 Kingston Road, where the contractor has requested “2 or 3 retaining walls to be built for approximately 130 feet to maximize the size of the yard and house, and one 44″ by 20 ” Pool house with a complex of decks, spa, grill, bars and gas fire, surrounded by two and a half acres of landscaped gardens and lush lawns, “on property listed for US $ 3.795 million.

Nadler claims the project will “require the removal of over 30 large, medium, and small trees and all of the foliage and create a tall wall that will be a permanent visual eyesore in the neighborhood.”

Nadler’s questions go unanswered as the Board of Architectural Review says they are not getting involved with the engineering department and the engineering department says they are not dealing with aesthetics.

The project will be re-submitted to the Board of Architectural Review at its January 11th meeting and the Zoning Board of Appeal will consider the request for the pool at its January 13th meeting. At the BAR meeting in June 2020, when the plans were first available, applicants submitted two sets of drawings, one with two rows of retaining walls and one with three. Nobody noticed until Nadler’s attorney reviewed the project after the meeting.

Nadler appeals to the neighbors to do the following:

A. Sign the petition he made against the demolition of the hill and the construction of massive retaining walls:

B. Ask all members of the Board of Architectural Review (BAR), as well as the Mayor and Trustees, to enter the property prior to the meeting to assess the steepness of the property and determine if the property is unsuitable for this project. No images have been submitted by the developer.

C. Consider attending the Zoom meetings and speaking out against the demolition of the hill and building massive retaining walls during the planned renovation of 4 Kingston Road.

The project approval meeting is the Zoom BAR meeting on 11/1/21, and the pool approval meeting (pending approval at the BAR meeting) at the Zoning Board of Appeal will be on 1/13/2021.

Nadler asks you to forward the petition to the neighbors in Greenacres and Scarsdale for their assistance to stop the destruction of the hill.

Here are the links to see what the developer submitted to the Board of Architectural Review:

And here are the documents for the Zoning Board of Appeal:

Below is a letter from Nadler:

NadleryardNadler’s yard on Brite Avenue

Dear Mayor, Trustee, BAR Members, Members of the Zoning Board of Appeal,

I am sending this email with an urgent request that 4 Kingston Road, Scarsdale, hold your attention for a few more moments. Please forward this to the BAR and ZOA members if necessary.

As the downhill neighbor of this proposed renovation, expansion, and in-ground pool project, the system has not worked properly to give this the proper review it needs.

As a result, I had to hire a lawyer, engineer, town planner, and law firm to represent myself (and my neighborhood) and put a lot of effort into simulating the planned development to ensure my objections were heard.

I am now sending you an email with several inquiries:

1. Please walk across the property prior to the Monday meeting to see the steep, unsuitable property where the developer plans to extend the yard over the hill and put up several retaining walls. The developer has not submitted a single image or rendering of the hill in the entire time this project has been submitted. Feel free to take a physical walk in my garden so that you understand the significant depreciation of my property if this project goes as illustrated.

2. Please ensure that my experts can be present at the BAR meeting. They need to present pictures and reports and need to be heard and NOT just under public comments. The June Zoom BAR meeting was not a forum where this could be done or where people could raise issues.

3. Please attend the BAR and ZBA meetings (if necessary) to make sure you see what is being presented if you need to be informed as it will have a negative impact on the neighborhood.

Below is the email I sent to the neighbors and other Scarsdale residents. As of Sunday evening, around 350 people have signed the petition against this project.

Please email or call me if you have any questions.

Regards,
Mark Nadler

Please tell me the following is a bad dream: The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) is proposing a gambling casino in Kapolei, with all known problems including financial risk, drug use and a social stepping stone to more of this development at all Islands.

Compare this idiotic proposal to the Hawaiian community gathered in a packed camp on Mauna Kea to protest (with the apparent consent of many Hawaiians) against the 30-meter telescope (TMT) that promises to make billions of dollars bringing from construction to construction years of scientific research that will put Hawaii at the forefront of the study of the universe and the future of life for all of humanity.

How can we be so stupid as a community?

A better place to bet casino than Kapolei

DHHL has proposed a casino here in Hawaii to help fund the development of the Hawaiian homelands. I have a suggestion. Set up the casino in Las Vegas and just send the winnings to Hawaii.

Gambling would hurt Hawaii’s vulnerable people

The idea that a casino resort in Kapolei is going to be a cash cow for DHHL – when we don’t have tourists, when the locals struggle to pay rent and wait in mile-long lines to get food for their families – could be fodder for one his late night monologue.

In reality, it’s a sick joke from an agency that supposedly exists to improve the Hawaiian peoples. Gambling (please don’t use the euphemism, “gambling”) is what Vice Hawaii does not need in any way, shape or form.

Las Vegas, our “ninth island”, has everything our residents need to gamble. It always hits the hardest hardest on the weakest, who can least afford it, and drains resources.

Please do not give this bill the light of day. Otherwise we see a dark night on Hawaii’s shores.

Stop using gas-powered landscaping equipment

The state has set itself an ambitious goal to reduce fossil fuel consumption, which is an outstanding goal. The use of electric buses is a big step forward (“Honolulu introduces the first of 17 new electric buses”, Star Advertiser, December 15). The new buses are quiet, do not burn fossil fuels and do not emit harmful gases or particles.

Why not continue down this path and stop using gas-powered landscaping equipment? Battery or cable blowers, hedge trimmers and lawn mowers have been around for decades. One of the biggest problems with on-site protection is hearing these noisy devices.

The countries of the European Union prescribe their use. Why not us

Keep occupant infections in daily COVID-19 count

Mayor Kirk Caldwell has asked Governor David Ige to remove prison inmate COVID-19 counts from daily counts as it skews results.

This would hide the problem in the prisons by not presenting a transparent picture of the outbreaks there.

Not only should we continue to include areas with cluster infections in our daily counts, we should also target those places with primary vaccinations as soon as they become available.

Cluster outbreaks must be controlled before the COVID-19 vaccine can be made available to the public.

Detention would be a cruel and unusual punishment if the state did not do everything it could to stop the wave of infections in our prisons.

Trump’s behavior suggests a mental health problem

I seriously have a feeling that President Donald Trump has some mental health issues. His thinking is not rational. How many times does he need to be reminded that he lost the election?

He even thought about declaring martial law. Enough is enough. Perhaps Vice President Mike Pence should try to invoke the 25th amendment and declare Trump incapable of performing his duties as president because of his mental state.

The president puts the US in serious trouble for lack of leadership.

We see hacking by foreign powers to see if they can undermine the US. Trump needs to give President-elect Joe Biden access to the Pentagon so he will be up to date when he becomes President.

Trump refuses to recognize anything other than his re-election. Enough is enough. Trump lost the election, period.
