Letters: Please don’t ban gas powered landscaping equipment

The tools used today though somewhat noisy are a huge back and heart saver, “literally.”

Editor:

Please Delta City Council, do not even consider banning gas powered equipment for landscaping purposes.”

Reading in the recent Optimist I have seen a couple of articles regarding banning gas powered tools.

I have lived in Ladner since 1967 and as a young hard worker, used a “Sieth” for trimming grass. I still have it. Then came the “Weed Eater” and the tranformation of what used to take days to do yard trimming into a couple of hours. I need a ride on mower to cut my grass with an average of 10 garbage cans full per week.

The tools used today though somewhat noisy are a huge back and heart saver, “literally.”

For people with a fair size lot, these tools are invaluable and note, the electric versions are nearly just as noisy and much less efficient.

I just purchased an electric version of a leaf blower and hedge trimmer which takes a long time for the battery to charge and good for small jobs. There is no real commercial version option available. Keep in mind as well with the addition of thousands of trees being planted and added restrictions for tree removal the need for tools and services is only increasing. We just need to follow noise bylaws. Thanks for reading.
