VI Public Works Department (DPW) has led several key initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for all Virgin Islanders. One of these projects is a landscaping pilot program that was officially mobilized in December. The contractor for this project is Fabiens Trucking LLC.

The current project boundaries lie between the VI Territorial Management Agency (VITEMA) and the Nisky Center in St. Thomas. The intent is to expand to other areas on St. Thomas and throughout the area.

“This landscaping pilot is part of the department’s beautification effort,” said Nelson Petty Jr., DPW commissioner. “Change doesn’t happen overnight, but through a concerted effort, change is inevitable.” Although beautification efforts are underway, the department is seeking help from the community in keeping the territory clean.

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. also has several plans in the works and currently underway that align with the department’s beautification efforts: additional cleaning teams for the St. Thomas and St. Croix urban areas, Adopt-A-Roadside legislation, and collaboration with the administrator’s office to carry out cleanups in the neighborhood.
