New poll says Utahns want incentives for water-wise landscaping

SALT LAKE CITY — A new poll by the Deseret News and the Hinckley Institute of Politics aimed to learn what Utahns think would be the best way to get people to conserve water. 50% of Utahns polled think incentives for water-wise landscaping would be the best way to lower water usage.

The poll asked 801 registered voters in Utah what they think the state should do to encourage water conservation. At 50%, incentives for water-wise landscaping received the most support from those polled.

The second most popular option was water restrictions with penalties for inappropriate water usage. 20% of people thought that option would be best.
